Native Scientist partners with FeSTEM

Native Scientist has teamed up with FeSTEM to increase the reach and support of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

FeSTEM (Female Empowerment in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in Higher Education) is a project funded by the European Union that exposes higher education students to successful female role models in STEM and encourages the development of networking opportunities for women to establish a peer support system. The partnership with Native Scientist will strengthen common efforts to support girls and women in pursuing and maintaining STEM careers in academia and industry.

Joana Moscoso, director of Native Scientist, revealed that “it’s an honour to partner with FeSTEM and join the cause for more women in STEM. Gender equality and equity are a flagship effort of initiatives related to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and the two areas are well aligned and within the scope of the work we carry out. In our introductory meeting, Antigoni and I quickly realised how the two projects could be mutually enhancing.”

Antigoni Parmaxi, FeSTEM project coordinator, states: “we are extremely pleased to be partnering up with Native Scientist, an organization that makes a huge impact on the lives of girls and women. We are looking forward to the fruitful results that this partnership will produce, as it can enable us to encourage and inspire girls and women to remain active in STEM.”

About FeSTEM

FeSTEM is a funded project composed of five partners in five countries (Cyprus, Italy, Greece, Spain, Slovenia). The main objective of the FeSTEM project is to promote an innovative pedagogical approach that will enable Higher Education students to use traditional and computationally rich tools to create common exhibits that will serve as mentoring models to encourage girls and women to remain active in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
