The new plan aims to increase scientific literacy in Portugal and across Europe over the next five years, always with a focus on children and equitable education.

Native Scientists Strategic Plan 2025-2030, approved in July, reinforces Native's commitment to promoting scientific literacy and equal access to science education among children from underserved communities across Europe.

The plan is based on three strategic priorities guiding the organization's actions until 2030: Impact, Culture, and Growth.

To maximise the impact, Native aims to increase the volume of scientific evidence analysing best practices in promoting scientific literacy. We aim to create a Scientific Literacy Index that measures the impact of children's curiosity, confidence, and aspirations after a first contact with scientists. We also want Portugal to be by 2030 the first country in the world where all children reaching the 5th grade have met a working scientist.

In cultural terms, Native aims to strengthen internal sustainability and diversity, promoting paid internships and greater professional growth, and ensuring a balance between different sources of funding (services, grants, and private contributions). We also intend to improve operational efficiency, halving the cost per child, and implementing new programmes and pilot projects.

Finally, Native is working to expand its European reach, consolidating transnational partnerships and positioning the organization as a leader in the European movement for scientific literacy, with greater involvement in European policies, training, and influence.

Overall, the plan reflects a clear ambition: to increase Native's impact, while maintaining the innovation and quality of its interventions.
