With the start of a new year of activities, the organisation is offering remote internship opportunities in six areas

After a successful pilot, Native Scientists, in partnership with Fundação da Juventude, launches its Internship Programme for the school year 2025/2026.

The initiative is an opportunity for people who wish to develop their skills and broaden their professional experience while contributing to Native’s pan-European mission of broadening children’s horizons through science education. It is particularly suited for those with a passion for education, science, and social innovation.

Offering remote positions in the below units, the programme has already welcomed students from a range of disciplines, from natural sciences to journalism or economics:

  • Consolidation and Development

  • Strategy, Data, and Talent

  • Programmes and Projects

  • Communications, Marketing, and Events

  • Impact

  • Finances and Legal

Thanks to the experience with the organisation, past interns have developed relevant skills and gained valuable insights, which they carry with them into future opportunities. “This experience provides practical insight into the challenges of science communication and how pan-European communication operates” says Jamila Bernardi, Communications Manager for her internship experience. Her work at Native helped her to consolidate key skills enabling her to contribute strategically to the organisation’s mission and to her own professional development.

For Lara San Emeterio, the internship as Programme Manager at Native, after over 10 years as a physics researcher, has allowed her to explore a new career path and realise that the skills she gained throughout her career are valuable in any field. “I had a very positive experience, feeling supported and part of a motivated team”, says Lara. Similarly, Diogo Cunha, also Programme Manager, shares that “working at Native Scientists made me a more organised and resilient person, and seeing our work in action is, without a doubt, an experience that fills the heart with joy.”
