MB WAY is Portugal’s most widely used payments app, and its Solidary Vote initiative invites anyone to support solidarity causes across the country through a simple monthly voting system based on donations.

In the November 2025 edition, MB WAY selected Native Scientists’ Same Home Town (SHT) programme as one of the six featured causes. Over the course of the campaign, Native Scientists received a total of €1,353.51 in donations and secured the second-highest number of votes (donations), therefore, earning an additional €500 award. In the past two years, MB WAY’s initiative has supported 102 solidarity causes and contributed a total of €36,000 to the monthly winning causes, helping raise both their visibility and their impact.

This support will enable Native Scientists to create more bridges between children and scientists, helping expand the SHT programme to the municipality of Tarouca, in the district of Viseu. Tarouca is a priority municipality for Native Scientists due to its low population density. Because of this, it was chosen to implement the SHT programme next year with the results of this campaign, which make it possible to reach all the 4th-year children  in this municipality.

“The results of MB WAY’s Solidary Vote mean a lot to us,” says Nuno Vieira de Almeida, Development and Marketing Lead at Native Scientists. “They show that we will be able to expand our intervention and connect more children with scientists. They also showed us that our mission resonates with many people who generously donated via MB WAY and helped us win this second-place prize. This support motivates us to continue expanding our programme and to find new ways to increase our social impact.”

We extend a warm thanks to everyone who chose to support us. Each donation has shown trust in our work and has strengthened our belief in a mission that truly matters. This collective gesture of solidarity strengthens our commitment to bringing science closer to children and supporting meaningful interactions between children and scientists, reminding us that change is built together, one generous act at a time.
